This year, the Kids Trout Derby will be on March 30th, to coincide with the PA Mentored Youth Trout Day.
Please Note, this is the Saturday before the official opening day of the 2024 Trout Season.
The Derby will run from 8 to 11 AM. Once the Derby has concluded, the Lake will be closed to fishing until 8 AM on the first day of the 2024 PA Trout Season on April 6th.
Because our event is participating in the PA Mentored Youth Trout Day, all PA Fish and Boat Commission requirements and rules for the day must be followed:
·        Eligible Anglers
  • Youth anglers need a Mentored Youth Permit OR a Voluntary Youth Fishing License from the Commission and to be accompanied by a licensed adult angler to participate. With their License OR Permit, they can take a total of two trout (combined species) with a minimum length of 7 inches. the Mentored Youth Permit or Voluntary Youth Fishing License can be found online or at a local retailer handling license sales. Adult anglers are prohibited from possessing trout.
  • Anglers 16 years of age or older are adult anglers and need a valid Pennsylvania Fishing License and a current Trout Permit. To participate on Mentored Youth Trout Day, anglers over 16 must be accompanied by an eligible holder of a Mentored Youth Fishing Permit OR a Voluntary Youth Fishing License from the Commission.
·        Guidance for mentors
  • Youth should be capable of fishing on their own, with limited assistance from Mentor.
  • Mentor should be fishing within a reasonable distance of actively fishing youth.
  • This day is for mentors and their youth, and not designed for large groups of youth fishing, with minimal adult supervision.

Prizes will be awarded, and the Kitchen will be open starting at 7 AM.

You might also consider arriving on Friday to stay the night at our campground for an unforgettable fishing excursion.
