NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course (Instructor-Led, 8 hour course)
Course Overview:
The NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting is a course consisting of interactive learning, demonstration, and live fire exercises conducted at a range under the guidance and supervision of an NRA-Certified Instructor.
Description:
This eight-hour course is conducted in a classroom (six hours) and live fire exercises (two hours). Students will learn gun safety rules, proper operation of lever, bolt and semi-automatic firearms, ammunition knowledge/selection, selecting and storing a firearm, the fundamentals of shooting, and inspection and maintenance. Each student will receive a Student Study Guide and a Course Evaluation form.
During the live fire exercises, an NRA-Certified Instructor will validate comprehension and application of gun safety rules, range protocol, proper handling, loading and unloading procedures, application of shooting fundamentals (Ammunition and rifles are not included in the cost of the course and are the responsibility of the student).
Certification Requirements:
Students need a 90% or better score to pass the written exam and demonstrate learning during live fire
What Students Should Bring:
- A positive and teachable attitude
- Lunch, drinks (No Alcohol) and snacks
- Rifle in safe working order (Do NOT bring your firearms or ammunition into the classroom)
- Minimum 150 rounds of factory ammunition (Do not bring hand-loaded (reloaded) ammunition)
- Students under 18 will have access to club rifles and ammunition
- Arrangements can be made if you do not own a suitable firearm.
What to wear on the Range:
Clothing for movement, long pants, closed-toe shoes, long sleeve shirt and baseball hat, eye, ear protection

Cancellation Policy
SCCSFA is committed to providing high quality training and
events to all its members. We recognize that on occasions participants will
register for an event and subsequently find that they are unable to
attend.
In these situations, we ask that participants notify
the organizer of their need to cancel a training or event as soon as possible
via email.
Similarly, the SCCSFA education committee will, on
occasion, find it necessary to cancel an event. When this need arises, we are
committed to taking positive steps to alert you to the cancellation as soon as
possible.
Should a participant who has registered for an event
need to cancel:
- Please
send cancellation details to the event organizer by email or by telephone.
- Notification
up to two weeks prior to an event will provide a full refund.
- Notification
of cancellation less than two weeks prior to an event will result in a
service fee of 25% plus credit card processing fee If the opening in the
event is not filled from the wait list.
- If you
have registered for an event or training and do not attend without
notifying the organizer of your cancellation the full fee will be payable
and non-refundable.
