NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course (Instructor-Led, 9 hours course)
This course is designed for two types of individuals
1. Members who are current/potential Mentors - If you have been a club member in good standing for more than a year, and want to volunteer for the Mentoring Program, Contact mentorcoordinator@sccsfa.org for complete details. The Mentor Training Session date will be announced when you complete the NRA RSO Course. Note: Members who choose to volunteer for the Mentor Program will be expected to conduct 12 Mentor Sessions per year.
2. Members who want to possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
Details: This course is conducted in a classroom setting in our meeting room. This is a Non-Shooting course. Range Safety Officer candidates will learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO; Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); range inspection; range rules; range briefings; emergency procedures; and firearm stoppages and malfunctions. Each Range Safety Officer Candidate will receive NRA RSO study materials.
Certification Requirements:
Upon successfully completing this course, you will be eligible to supervise formal shooting activities. A nice addition to your existing NRA membership.
