Registration

IMPORTANT Registration Information!

You must include the name and age for each youth attending to participate. Please note, this is a critical step to ensure each youth will be recognized.

This year, the Kids Trout Derby on March 29th, will again coincide with the PA Mentored Youth Trout Day.

Additionally, this year there will be two age divisions for youth, 11 and under, 12 to 15 years of age.

Please Note, this is the Saturday before the official opening day of the 2025 Trout Season.

The schedule of events for the day is as follows:

7 AM – Event breakfast served in the Clubhouse to all Mentors and Derby participates.

8 AM – Registration at the Lake.

8:30 AM – Announcement to drop lines and begin fishing.

10:30 AM – Derby Ends.

11:00 AM – Prizes Awarded

Please Note: You may have your largest fish measure any time before 10:50 AM.

Once the Derby has concluded, the Lake will be closed to fishing until 8 AM on the first day of the 2025 PA Trout Season on April 5th.

Because our event is participating in the PA Mentored Youth Trout Day, not all PA Fish and Boat Commission requirements are followed:

·        Eligible Anglers at the SCCSFA Kids Derby

  • Youth anglers need a Mentored Youth Permit OR a Voluntary Youth Fishing License from the Commission and must be accompanied by a licensed adult mentor to participate.
  • With their License OR Permit, they can take a total of two trout (combined species). The Mentored Youth Permit or Voluntary Youth Fishing License can be found online or at a local retailer handling license sale.
  • A youth participating in the SCCSFA Kids Trout Rodeo must be accompanied by a Mentor.
  • Mentors must be members. Mentors are 16 years of age or older and are considered adult anglers and need a valid Pennsylvania Fishing License and a current Trout Permit.
  • Mentors are prohibited from fishing in the SCCSFA Lake.

Guidance for mentors

  • Youth should be capable of fishing on their own, with limited assistance from Mentor.
  • This day is for mentors and their youth, and not designed for large groups of youth fishing, with minimal adult supervision.

You might also consider arriving on Friday to stay the night at our campground for an unforgettable fishing excursion.

If you have questions regarding your ability to participate beyond the SCCSFA event on the Mentored Youth Trout Day please call the Fish and Boat Commission SE Regional Office.

Questions related to the SCCSFA Kids Rodeo can be emailed to fish-lake@sccsfa.org
