SCCSFA is hosting a 9-hour basic pistol course offered by Predator Defense Resources LLC on July 13, 2024.

Covering both revolvers and semi-auto pistols, the course addresses firearm types, safe handling, shooting techniques, cleaning/basic maintenance, ammunition selection, and storage. The course caters to all individuals including youth aged 16 and above with parental consent and supervision. Note: Parent of a student under 18 must accompany their youth while on SCCS&FA club property. 

The course is the first step to integrate students into the broader shooting community, encouraging ongoing participation in club events like Cowboy Action Shooting and USPSA.

The certification process, comprising a written exam with 90% passing score and live fire exercises, ensures that students not only understand theoretical concepts but also demonstrate practical proficiency in shooting accuracy. Live fire qualification is 5 shots inside a 4-inch circle four times.

Students are expected to bring their own pistol and a minimum of 150 rounds of ammunition, emphasizing personal responsibility and familiarity with one's own firearm. Ammunition must be factory loaded and not hand loaded. However, the option to rent a pistol and purchase ammunition from the instructor separately from course fee accommodates those without access to suitable firearms.  You must make arrangements with the instructor BEFORE signing up for the course.

The SCCSFA is paid by you when registering and will follow their cancellation policy as detailed below.

·        Notifying the organizer by email or phone two weeks prior to the event will receive a full refund less credit card processing fee

·        Less than two weeks prior and more than 24 hours will result in a service fee of 25% plus credit card processing fee.

·        Less than 24 hours’ notice, or not attending will result in no refund.
