NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course (Instructor-Led, 9 hours course)

This course offers two registration options:

  1. SCCSFA Members who are current/potential Mentors - If you have been a club member in good standing for more then a year, and want to volunteer for the Mentoring Program (Contact mentorcoordinator@sccsfa.org for complete details), Check this option. The Mentor Training Session date will be announce when you complete the NRA RSO Course. Note: Members who choose to volunteer for the Mentor Program will be expected to conduct 12 Mentor Sessions per year.
  2. Any SCCSFA member who wants to possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

Course Fee : If you decided to join Mentor Program, the $25 fee will be waived when you register. (please select RSO with Mentor sessions, $0; otherwise please select RSO course only.)

** Please bring lunch.

More Details:  This course is nine hours long and is conducted in a classroom and at our club house (Non-shooting course). Range Safety Officer candidates will learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO; Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); range inspection; range rules; range briefings; emergency procedures; and firearm stoppages and malfunctions. Each Range Safety Officer Candidate will receive NRA RSO Study materials. At the conclusion of this course, successful candidates will be recognized as certified Range Safety Officers. A nice addition to your existing NRA membership.

There are two parts necessary to register, you will have to do both below:

Part 1. You must register at SCCSFA Club Website (pay the $25 course fee on-line or volunteer), once your payment is successful, you will receive an email for part 2 of the registration.

Part 2. An email link to NRA website, this registration is for your course certification after course completion .
